GREEN COFFEE BEAN EXTRACT ANTIOXIDANT AND ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES
Green coffee bean extract is a rich source of chlorogenic acid, an antioxidant and free radical scavenger with anti-inflammatory properties. It protects cells by reducing the production of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species (ROSs). Additionally, chlorogenic acid exerts neuroprotective effects and stimulates the central nervous system.
Green coffee bean extract supports weight loss by influencing how the body metabolizes carbohydrates. It reduces how much glucose and carbohydrates the body absorbs during digestion by inhibiting alpha-glucosidase enzymes. It also inhibits fat absorption and production while simultaneously increasing fat breakdown. It may further support fat loss by promoting thermogenesis (calories burned through body heat). Chlorogenic acid’s antioxidant properties also inhibit new fat cells from proliferating.
Chlorogenic acid has numerous properties that may support heart health. It acts as a cholesterol-reducing (hypocholesterolemic) agent that can improve triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels. It achieves this by altering how the body metabolizes amino acids, glucose, and fatty acids and inhibiting the enzymes that produce cholesterol. Several studies have found that it also positively affects blood pressure by inhibiting the enzymes that produce blood pressure-raising hormones.
Green coffee bean extract may support the immune system in several ways. In addition to protecting against lipopolysaccharides, chlorogenic acid has additional antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiviral properties. It increases the production of genes that activate the immune system. Chlorogenic acid also enhances the proliferation and activation of numerous white blood cells, including macrophages, natural killer cells, and T-cells.
